Project update: Codling Wind Park
Project name: Codling Wind Park
Scope: Owner’s Engineering
Client: Codling Wind Park Ltd (joint venture between Fred. Olsen Renewables and EDF Renewables)
Capacity: 900 – 1500 MW
Location: Irish Sea
In April 2021, ODE was awarded the contract for Owner’s Engineering for the Codling Wind Park in Ireland. The project is ODE’s first contract in Ireland and one of multiple Owner’s Engineer scopes currently in ODE’s portfolio.
Since becoming Owner’s Engineer, ODE has completed the concept design, CAPEX model, Development Programme. and Employer’s Requirements for the full wind park, including WTG foundations, offshore substations, and electrical systems.
Codling Wind Park Ltd (CWP) have received recommendations from ODE on critical wind farm design choices, enabling the most suitable design choices to be made for the project. ODE has also supported CWP by conducting sensitivity studies which have helped to refine Codling Wind Park’s consenting application which is to be submitted in Q3 2022.
With 12,000 manhours deployed on the project to date, ODE is now supporting the FEED and detailed design stages. Support is being provided to CWP across consent applications by undertaking a pile driveability assessment to assess the anticipated pile driving energies; a hub height sensitivity assessment; and a wave breaking assessment.
Construction on the wind project is due to commence in 2024.
