Job Description

ODE Asset Management is looking for an experienced Contracts Specialist to join the team in Great Yarmouth on a full-time permanent basis.


The Role

Responsible for the drafting and management of client and supplier contracts, identifying risk, ensuring compliance with corporate contracting standards, providing guidance to operations managers on contractual liabilities and taking the lead on some supplier relationships.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Draft commercial terms for client and supplier agreements
  • Provide contractual assessments and qualifications for proposals and subsequent negotiations
  • Negotiate contract terms in accordance with the contracting rules of ODE AM and Group
  • Undertake legal review analysis of client contracts and presentation of compliance/risk to senior management team
  • Arranging/preparing NDA's, MOU's and other forms of contract.
  • Maintain contracts including extensions and amendments
  • Drafting of invitations to tender
  • Evaluation of supplier bids and drafting award paper for management approval
  • Undertake due diligence of suppliers and clients in accordance with Group processes to ensure compliance with the Code of Conduct
  • Supplier performance reviews, relationship management and dispute resolution
  • Maintain supplier database and lead supplier onboarding process
  • Perform all work in accordance with the Business Management procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in respect of the information obtained/provided in tendering processes
  • Support Operations and Resources departments to fully understand contractual obligations, assist in reviewing and evaluating CTRs, variations and claims.

Production and Efficiency

  • Ensure that activities are managed within timescales and cost to meet contractual obligations and objectives.
  • Assist in the maximisation of the productivity of resources, capital and other business resources.

Organisation and Resources

  • Understand business needs, projects and contracts and be able interpret priorities and efficiencies
  • Set highest standards for compliance with the Code of Conduct and interface with the Compliance Officer for any concerns.
  • Ensure that suppliers are fully aware of the company's Code of Conduct, Safety standards and expected safety behaviours.
  • Deputise for Contracts and Supply Chain Manager when required

Finance and Commerical

  • Responsible for preparing and managing supplier contracts in accordance withcompany standards, client contract requirements and industry best practice
  • Provide supplier/project expenditure information to Resources and Financedepartments as required
  • Understanding and advising Operations/Project Managers on contractual risks
  • Compliance with any ODE AM or Group contractual risk profile and referral toLegal team if outside of this profile
  • Identify exposure to undue financial or contractual risk

Satety, Health, Environment and Quality

  • Responsible for communicating ODE AM SHEQ expectations to suppliersrelevant to the services/materials/equipment being procured
  • Ensure that major accident hazards are taken into account during the tenderingand procurement process
  • Contribute to a strong SHEQ culture through visible safety behaviours
  • Liaise with contractors, regulatory bodies and other stakeholders to maintain SHEQ communication as required.
  • Participate in incident investigations as required

Qualifications

  • Degree level educated
  • Contract law qualification (and/or experience)
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply qualification
  • Business Management qualification (preferable)
  • Evidence of ongoing contract law continued professional development

Competencies and Soft Skills

  • Experience in Oil & Gas (or similar industry) supply chain or commercialactivities including contracts, procurement and logistics
  • Experience with the LOGIC suite of contracts
  • Commercial and numerical acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, personable approach tocontract negotiation and able to build long lasting client and supplierrelationships
  • Good organisational skills and record keeping with a structured approach tocontract management
  • Demonstrable appreciation of business, commercial and legislative principals indirect correlation to the Oil and Gas industry
  • Strong analytical skills and to advise and accurately influence seniormanagement on appropriate contractual/supply chain strategies
  • Strong IT literacy in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word
  • Full and valid driving licence
  • Flexible and able to travel for meetings, training courses, etc.
